Weekend of waiting and praying.
"God is our refuge & strength, a very present help in trouble." Psalm 46:1
A few weeks ago, I received a message that one of our Neema girls had run away with her young daughter.
We wept.
Our girls come to us with so much pain, and this young lady is no different.
She entered the program in January 2014. Raised by her grandmother in a slum area outside of kitale, she never knew her father, and her mother died from HIV/AIDS when she was a young girl. Because of extreme poverty and lack of opportunity, she was taken advantage of and drawn into a life of prostitution. Last year, she lost her grandmother.
The amount of loss and grief that this young lady has experienced feels unbearable. She feels overlooked and hated and has internalized so much of what she has experienced in her life.
It was a long weekend of waiting, praying, hoping that this precious girl would return. There is hope for her, even in the midst of despair, and part of our family was missing. That morning when I woke to the news that she had returned, I felt so grateful to the Lord that he hears our cries for mercy.
Our desire is to see each one of our girls experience unconditional love and grace, like never before in their lives. Would you join us in praying for each of our Neema girls, that God would be their refuge and strength, a very present help in time of need?
