WATCH alumni Ann, Faith, and Lydia share their transformation stories!

Our focus on the three pillars of skills training, counseling, and discipleship is integral to our mission because it enables each of our students to access holistic transformation. By addressing spiritual and emotional wounds, our program provides restoration to young women. But our staff also work rigorously to give our students the high academic training and practical skills they’ll need to provide for themselves and their families after they leave Neema.

Because of your support, our graduates are now empowered to make their own decisions. They’re no longer left to enter undignified forms of work because they’ve learned the trade of dressmaking, allowing them to be employed, and the life skills of time management and financial planning, enabling them to reliably maintain their jobs and plan for a better future.

Taking the National Dressmaking Exam (NITA) is a remarkable achievement for the young women who come to our program. Many were left with no alternative but to drop out of public school because of the fees required to attend secondary school and/or the stigma of being young single mothers. For some of our students, passing this exam might be the first certificate they’ve ever received. In 2020, our pass rate of these national exams—the same exams given at Kenyan technical colleges—was 100%!

But our work does not stop at graduation—we provide ongoing support to each of our alumni. We recently hired a part-time Business Skills Development Manager to follow up with our alumni and ensure they thrive as young professionals.

In light of these efforts, we’re thrilled to release this brand new short film featuring graduates, Ann, Faith, and Lydia by a local videographer in Kenya. It showcases the achievements of these three alumni and explains how Neema maintains relationships with graduates.
