How Neema Celebrated International Women’s Day!
In honor of International Women’s Day, we stand with women around the world, believing in their dignity and value to society. We’ve seen how women have the capacity to transform their communities. And yet, much of this depends on the opportunities they have access to.
Among all the girls who are enrolled in the first year of primary school in areas of Kenya where poverty and gender inequality are high, like Kitale, fewer than 20% will go to high school. However, for those who can access education and holistic care, the course of her life (and those in her family) can be permanently changed.
Third year student Brenda’s mother says,
"Neema has been the source of joy to me and my family through the education of our daughter and the care she receives. She has good morals, [and] she is a role model to other young girls at home.
She continues, "Neema has taught Brenda to be resourceful and skillful. She joined an alumni student in doing the tailoring work during the holidays to improve her skills and gain experience."
By believing in women, we can transform a society. Young women like Brenda are empowered with the physical skills and emotional and spiritual support they need to thrive in their lives after Neema.
We’re so grateful for our incredible partners and how they’re committed to seeing this change become a reality in rural Kenya for more young women like Brenda!
