Eunice teaches students in Neema’s previous rental facility. Learn more about the new campus built in 2023.

Eunice’s life was not easy growing up. Her parents had to do casual work so that they could afford basic needs. But she did manage to go to school up to the high school level. She really enjoyed school, and she was later able to attend a technical college for fashion and design.

As a Tailoring and Dressmaking Instructor at Neema, her education gave her the experience she needed to teach the students. Her education has also helped her better understand the students and build a deeper relationship with the young women.

Eunice has worked hard to get to her current job at Neema by gaining knowledge and work experience. Before working at Neema, she worked in Nairobi as a seamstress where she oversaw and checked the quality of the work. Now at Neema, Eunice has a job she loves and that provides her with a large enough income to be able to support herself, her three year old son, her one year old daughter, her brother, and two distant relatives.

“My dream is seeing these girls well skilled and therefore able to depend on themselves in [the] future because they will be able to [make] different designs and outfits.”

Eunice has a great passion for seeing young women’s lives transform. She explains how much she loves seeing young women becoming new versions of themselves. She believes that hope and self-esteem are important because they allow the young women to gain courage, confidence, and faith for a future life. With that, they are able to leave Neema with the skills, knowledge, and confidence necessary to be successful in life.

Eunice sees the positive impact Neema has on young women on a daily basis, and she loves being a part of their transformations. She hopes to see Neema expand in the future—with new locations in different counties and considering accepting young men as well.
